I’m the head of growth at a premier in-depth training platform for people who are looking to upskill in their digital marketing or choose a career in it.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Hey Digital?

We needed to step outside our comfort zone of organic growth with SEO and Google search, which was our primary method and sole breadwinner for us. We were trying to diversify that demand generation by selling our services via PPC and paid social. The agency we were working with just wasn’t a good match, so we hired Hey Digital.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We use their PPC expertise, which includes the development of paid assets, advertising, as well as Google Search and Google Video, or YouTube advertising. They’ve reorganized our entire PPC efforts and have started to optimize the process. They’ve also been developing display assets, so they work on copy for search and have been running the campaigns. In the future, they'll develop landing pages for us to optimize the conversion experience for anybody who lands on our site via paid traffic.

What is the team composition?

I’ve met four people on their team. We mainly work with Dylan (Co-Founder) on ideation and higher strategy. We also work with Celia (Co-Founder) as well.

How did you come to work with Hey Digital?

There are a lot of agencies out there and some are good and some aren’t. We were looking for good communication skills and a shared network. There was a conversation on Linkedin between Dylan and our CEO and they had expressed interest in our learning platform and we had learned a little more about them through our network.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in January 2020 and the work is currently ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

After they completely reformatted our entire Google Ads account, we’ve now aligned on our conversion goals and how much those conversions mean to us in terms of dollar value. We’ve started driving an incredible increase in conversions over the past month and they’ve started running with those campaigns at a lower spend. As far as the campaigns have been going, we've seen a positive long term debt (LTD) to capitalization ratio specific to PPC conversions.

How did Hey Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

They perform especially well and we have a weekly sync. They’re very upfront and they own what works as well as what doesn’t work, which allows us to move quickly with new campaigns and ideas. In the beginning, they took the initiative to be overly communicative and layout everything so that the expectations were set and aligned on. They understand that we rely on the need for them to stay proactive and communicative with us and not rely on us to reach out to them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

One of the things I like most about working with Hey Digital compared to other vendors is their transparency and communication skills. They consistently and proactively develop ideas for us and our business. They’re personable, fun to work with, and really intelligent as well, and their professionalism and expertise have really shown. They take a plan from ideation to implementation in record time. People can have great ideas and campaigns on paper, but to get it built and published in that short of time is pretty unique.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there is nothing. I just hope they keep the momentum up.

We were looking to leverage search engine ads for our high intent keywords. Hey Digital helped us set up and manage the ads for the project.

To learn what of the pre-defined keywords worked for us and what new interesting search queries we could find out along the way. We had a CPA KPI in place for the project.
